30 years driven by one belief:
no one should be harmed through work

Founded on hard-won experience

Born from a realisation on a North Sea oil rig, Setters was founded by Graham Setter after seeing how even the strongest safety systems could fail in real working conditions.

The issue was not always the procedure itself, but the choices people made in critical moments — especially under pressure. That insight shaped a simple belief: real safety depends on both strong systems and the people who bring them to life.

Founded in 1992, Setters has spent more than 30 years helping high-risk organisations build safer habits, stronger cultures and better decision-making through its +people® Programme.

How we’ve evolved

SETTERS TODAY

Over 30 years, that question led us to develop the +people® Programme – a coaching-based approach that helps people understand the choices they make and how to choose differently.

Because when you’ve actually lived it, you don’t need to guess what works.

This is why our clients don’t just get training or consultancy, they get a co-designed programme that addresses both the systems and the people using them. want us to explain our process? →

We're industrialists not theorists

Our team have managed safety in high-risk operations – offshore platforms, manufacturing plants, construction sites. They’ve been there when the pressure is on, when deadlines clash with procedures, when something goes wrong. We know the real pressures people face because we’ve lived them.

Our trainers, coaches, and consultants bring a grounded, human approach that resonates with people at every level, from the shop floor to the boardroom.

Because experience matters: we don’t just tell people what to do, we show them how it works in the real world.

What makes setters different
We’re not your typical consultants.

We do this through three core areas of work

Safety Culture Development

You’ve reduced incidents, but you
can’t get to zero harm. The gap isn’t your systems, it’s the culture that determines whether people follow them when nobody’s watching. We help you build a culture where safe choices happen naturally, even when the pressure is on.

Safety Training

Nationally recognised safety courses delivered by people who’ve actually worked in high-risk environments. The syllabus doesn’t change – but the 30 years of operational experience our trainers bring into the room does. Training that ticks the box and actually prepares people for the real world.

Safety Consultancy

Hands-on support when you need safety expertise but don’t have it in-house. We work alongside your team – shadowing operations, implementing systems, supporting your person, responding to incidents. We’re there as long as you need us.

We don't just teach safety...
We build it into culture.
